The Gates County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on December 17, 2025, at 6:00pm in the Commissioners Chambers of the 1836 Historical Courthouse, 115 Court Street, Gatesville, NC 27938, to receive comments on a proposed ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on development approvals for data centers and related high-impact facilities within Gates County.
The proposed ordinance would pause acceptance, processing, and approval of applications for zoning, site plans, special use permits, building permits, and other development actions related to data centers and similar high impact uses. The moratorium would remain in effect for one year while the County evaluates potential impacts and updates relevant policies and standards.
