Gates County participates in CareTrak through NC Project Lifesaver.

This project is geared toward residents with cognitive impairments that make them prone to wander. CareTrakor Project Lifesaver is a bracelet-style radio transmitter that provides search and rescue professionals information to pinpoint a wanderer's location.

The costs incurred for this service have historically been covered by grants and donations, however, if the funding streams fail, costs to subscribers would be about $14 per month.
