Board of Directors
Purpose: The Board Of Directors shall serve as oversight in the actions taken by the EC in the execution of business and operations of the corporation most specifically in the distribution of monetary fund’s as set forth in an annually approved budget and is responsible to the County Board of Commissioners and the Corporation Membership for such oversight. The BOD is required to make an Annual Report to the County Board of Commissioners on the state of the corporation.
Size. The number of directors of the Corporation shall be fixed by these by-laws at (9) members, five (5) non-affiliated directors appointed by the Gates County Board of Commissioners from the local community with every effort being made to have one member who resides in each of the following communities: Gatesville, Gates, Sunbury, Eure and Hobbsville. An active member of the corporation cannot hold an appointed position on the BOD. The Gates County Director of Emergency Services, and Three (3) active members selected and voted onto the board by the membership. The three active members will consist of two (2) from the EMS membership and (1) from rescue membership each selected by the membership. At no time shall more than 50 percent of the members on the board be related by blood or marriage or otherwise have joint financial interests, such as business partnerships etc.
