Beer & Wine Licenses

WHO MUST OBTAIN A BEER & WINE PRIVILEGE LICENSE?
If you operate a business in Gates County that engages in the selling of beer and wine, you are required to obtain and pay a tax for a license. If your business has multiple locations in Gates County, you will need to obtain separate licenses for each location.
*Note: licenses are non-transferable.

If alcohol is to be sold at public event within the county, you will need to obtain a license.
 
LICENSING FEES:
On-Premises beer: $25.00 – Off-Premises beer: $5.00
On-Premises wine: $25.00 – Off-Premises wine: $25.00
 
HOW TO APPLY FOR A GATES COUNTY BEER & WINE PRIVILEGE LICENSE?
Complete the application and submit it along with the associated fee(s) to:

PO BOX 148
Gatesville, NC 27938.
*Note: you must include copies of the required documents indicated in the application and our office requires 2 business days to process privilege license requests.
 
PENALTIES/FEES
Failure to purchase a Beer/Wine License may result in penalties and fees assessed to the business owner. Such penalties and/or fees include:
➢5% per month of the current yearly fee, up to 25%
➢Criminal prosecution (Class 1 misdemeanor)
 
LICENSE RENEWAL
Gates County Beer and Wine Licenses expire on April 30th and must be renewed by May 1st of each year.
